Why are some tickets so cheap and others
so dear?
Well, the seasonal films we have are off general release, so
we pay less rental and don't have to charge you as much. New
Release ones are newer and still on general release (still playing
at other venues), so they cost more to rent, and more to see.
Special Events are more expensive as we put in a lot more work
into making the shows happen.
Is there a student discount?
Nope, not on tickets, but we do a concession membership, so
you can join and save on tickets that way! Concession counts
as Students, OAP's, Cinema Exhibitors Association Registered
Disabled, Unemployed
Are there group discounts?
We don't as a rule have a group discount policy (though there
is for certain Singalonga Shows). If you have a very large group,
speak with one of the cinema's Duty Managers, and they will
see if we can do you a deal
Do you accept credit cards?
We accept all major cards, except American Express. If you are
paying by Debit card there is a 25p per transaction charge.
Credit Cards incur a 3% charge.
Can I buy tickets in advance?
You can book tickets for anything on our programme by visiting
in person at the cinema during cinema hours or you can call
our Box Office on 020 7494 3654. Booking over the phone incurs
a small fee to cover credit card charges. The Box Office phone-line
is open between 1:30pm to 8:30pm.
Is it necessary to book in advance
for a film?
Most films do not need to be pre-booked as we have lots of seats,
but as with anything some films will sell out (especially Previews
and other Special Event screenings) and you might want to book
in advance to ensure you're not disappointed
Can I book online?
YES! here
Can I get a refund?
Nope. All ticket purchases are final, tickets cannot be exchanged
or refunded. Unless, of course, if we cancel a screening. If
you don't like a film then that's something you should really
take up with the director. Coming to us and saying you "Don't
Get" The Tree
Of Life will not cut the mustard. Telling us that The
Room is awful will just get you laughed at.
Where are you located?
We are at 7 Leicester Place at the north east corner of Leicester
Square, just up from the Hagen Daaz restaurant. Check out the
top of this page for more.
What time are you open?
We open our doors fifteen minutes before the first film of the
day. We close just after the last film has begun
Are seats allocated or can I sit anywhere?
We operate a free-seating policy, except in exceptional circumstances
where allocated seating is preferential (like film marathons
and Gala evenings). Therefore we suggest if you really want
to nab your lucky seat, you'd better not leave it until the
last minute. The bar and kiosk is open until after the last
film of the day has begun, so you can always pop out and grab
some goodies before the feature starts
Can I have one of your posters?
No, because of our programme we tend to bring back old classic
films quite often, so we keep all our best posters in a library
in the basement. However once in a while we have a big clear
out and give bundles away for free. You just have to beat the
staff to the best ones.
How big are
the screens?
Well, downstairs has 285 seats, upstairs 104. Both have nice
big screens and booming sound.
When will
a certain film play?
We usually try and screen films as soon as we can, but it is
usually limited by how well a film is performing elsewhere.
Why don't
you programme further ahead?
The programme has to be kept as fresh as possible, so we limit
ourselves to only having 2 weeks programmed at any stage. This
means we can nab new films as and when they become available,
and means we can get rid of any that are getting a little old
in the tooth
Can I make
a request for a certain film?
YES! we have a new film request page
as part of our all bells and whistles website!
Can I hire the cinema?
YES, we are available to hire to show your film, promote your
product, host your conference or anything else you may come
up with. Please visit the Prince Charles
Cinema Hire section for more details.
Can you tell
me more about the Sing-a-long-a shows?
For full details about the Sing-a-long-a sensation (Sing-a-long-a
Rocky Horror Picture Show, Sound of Music, Joseph and others),
your best bet is to visit the Sing-a-long-a
website directly. They have all the details about the individual
shows - from show dates to trailers and images from the shows.
If you are just after dates for shows at the Prince Charles
Cinema, visit the Sing-a-long-a
London dates page as we only programme films up to 2 weeks
in advance on our site
How do I join
or leave the email list?
The is a link at the top of every page which will enable you
to join (or leave) the email list
How can I
get a job at the Prince Charles Cinema?
The Prince Charles Cinema is always looking for talented, reliable,
hardworking individuals. Simply drop in a CV at the front desk
for the attention of the Duty Manager. Pop on it if you're looking
for full or part-time work and what days of the week you're
available on. Give us a smile and be polite when you hand it
in and we may even put a little gold star on it. We keep all
CV's for 3 months, and if a job comes up in that time we'll
go through the pile and call people up for interviews. If you've
got cash handling and especially cinema experience you'll be
higher up the food chain. We can't hire anyone under 18 as you
have to be able to watch all the films we show.
I think I
left something behind in the auditorium! Do you have a lost
property?
We do have a Lost Property of sorts. If you do happen to leave
something behind (umbrellas and scarves are the most popular),
come in and speak with a Duty Manager and they can have a look
for you.
How can I become a Member?
Simply come along to the Box Office, fill out a form and give
us £10.00 for the year, within two minutes you will be
a card carrying Prince Charles Cinema member, with all the wonderful
benefits this involves. Have a look at our Membership
section for full details of the scheme.
I have forgotten my Membership card,
can you look me up on the computer?
NO, You must bring your card to get the discount, that's why
we gave it to you! Looking everyone up on the computer slows
down queues and makes people miss the start of the film.
I've lost my membership card. Can I
get a replacement?
If you have lost your card and it's still valid we can reprint
you a new one for just £3.00. However if some mean person
has stolen it with your bag and you reported it to the police,
then bring the crime number to the box office and we will print
you a new one for free (because we are nice like that).
Do you have disabled access?
Yes and No, after our recent building work we are still in the
process of installing full disabled access. We currently have
a ramp into the foyer, a new disabled toilet in the bar and
a ramp from the bar into the downstairs screen. Once we have
an agreed design and budget that all involved parties agree
upon then we will move forward, we are very hopeful that we
can progress later this year or early next
Do you offer discounts for disabled
people?
On recommendation
from the government, we will give a complimentary ticket for
a carer to anyone in posession of a Cinema
Exhibitors Association card or anyone with a registered
carer card.
Can I bring my baby?
Please be aware this policy may change for special events.
Basically if your baby and is going to sit on your lap then
there isn't a charge for a ticket. However if they start to
cry then you'll have to take them out of the screen immediately.
If they are a few years old and especially if they need a seat
of their own, then we will charge for a ticket. Obviously infants
are only allowed into U or PG screenings, even if they don't
understand what's going on we still have to obey the certificates.
What About Cookies?
Cookies are small pieces of information that are stored by your
browser on your computer's hard drive. They make it possible
for us to track visitor statistics, although this is always
done in aggregate, with no record of your individual details
tracked or kept. It basically means we can work out if the website
is working well and if the bits that our geeks spend ages writing
are actually used or not. We're not selling on your data, we're
not spying on you when you leave our site, we just use it to
find out how best to improve what we do.
Do you accept Orange Wednesdays?
No.
Why don't you do £1.50 films
any more?
To be honest the decision really wasn't in our hands. It had
got to the point, that by the time the 2nd run, cheap films
were being offered to us by distributors, no-one (yourself included)
wanted to see them. We would open every morning, to get only
15-20 people coming in and paying £1.50 for a film, when
you consider a sizable chunk of that goes back to the distributor,
we would have quite simply gone out of business in a couple
of months if we'd carried on this way.
We took the decision, to no longer pick up
these bargain basement films (as everyone had already seen them)
and get newer films from the distributors. Obviously to get
these films earlier, we have to promise the distributors a higher
price ticket. So we did this, and took the decision to focus
our other side of our business on providing an amazing range
of events, cult screenings,
double bills, Q&A's etc etc etc. |
