Dark Star, John Carpenter's first feature is widely regarded as a cult classic and a seminal influence on 21st century sci-fi. Co-written by and starring Alien screenwriter Dan O'Bannon, this 1970s low budget space comedy has found its place in the science fiction pantheon as the missing link between 2001: A Space Odyssey and Red Dwarf. Animat's soundtrack to the film employs their trademark mix of their own original matarerial and tracks from their DJ archive as well as remixed versions of themes from the original score and can be seen and heard at festivals and cinemas around the UK in summer and autumn 2012. An EP of music from the soundtrack will be released to accompany the dates (more details to follow soon).
