Sing-a-long-a Sound of Music ^

singalongaWhen? See listings for full details of times/dates
How Much Is It? £14.50
What's the Deal? The Prince Charles Cinema is alive with the Sound of Music. Join Maria, a proliferation of nuns, the very dashing Captain Von Trapp and his delightful children to sing to your hearts content. For those of you who haven't seen the film every Christmas since the dawn of time the song lyrics are projected onto the screen to give you a helping hand.
A compere hosts every performance to whip you into a choral frenzy and is on hand at the interval to judge the fancy dress competition. (That's right, if singing in public is not humiliating enough for you then clad yourself in Auntie Vera's chintz curtains and jump up on stage to do battle for a prize fund to end all others).

Electric Sheep Film CLub^

ELECTRIC SHEEP FILM CLUB FEB-APRIL 10
Electric Sheep Magazine presents weird, wild and wonderful films every second Wednesday of the month at the Prince Charles Cinema.

Films are followed by informal discussion with Electric Sheep writers in the bar.

Wednesday 10 February, 8pm: Twisted Valentine Screening: Kiss Me Deadly

(certificate: 12)
Dir: Robert Aldrich, USA 1955
Here’s your antidote to forthcoming Valentine soppiness: promising ‘red-blood kisses’ and ‘white-hot thrills’, Kiss Me Deadly is a noir classic that has lost none of its power to shock and surprise. Private investigator Mike Hammer, a thuggish, macho anti-hero, is drawn into a bottomless pit of conspiracy and corruption after picking up a mysterious and beautiful hitch-hiker. Exposing the black soul of America in the atomic age, this is as hard-boiled as it gets.

BREATHLESS^

TERRACOTTA DISTRIBUTION PRESENT:

BREATHLESS

Terracotta Distribution organisers of our annual Terracotta Film Festival are bringing something rather special to the PCC screen.

Breathless is a hard-hitting debut from Yang Ik-june who writes, produces, directs and stars in this realistic portrayal of the cyclical nature of violence in society. Sang-hoon (Yang Ik-june) is a lowlife gangster, a debt collector exercising thuggish ways to collect his money. The recipient of nothing but anger since his childhood, he finds it difficult to express himself, to the extent that he shows affection for his docile young nephew by aggressive play-fighting and swearing...

Still Bill^

Bill Withers in Still Bill

STILL BILL is an intimate portrait of soul legend Bill Withers, best known for his classics “Ain’t No Sunshine,” “Lean On Me,” “Lovely Day,” “Grandma’s Hands,” and “Just the Two of Us.” With his soulful delivery and warm, heartfelt sincerity, Withers has written the songs that have – and always will – resonate deeply within the fabric of our times. Filmmakers Damani Baker and Alex Vlack follow Withers and offer a unique and rare look inside the world of this fascinating man. Through concert footage, journeys to his birthplace, interviews with music legends, his family and closest friends, STILL BILL presents the story of an artist who has written some of the most beloved songs in our time and who truly understands the heart and soul of a man.

All profits from the screening will go to Help The Aged/Age Concern

The ROOM ^

Tommy Wiseau's 'masterpiece' The Room has been hailed as the biggest cult film since Rocky Horror.

Soo bad it's good, it's drawn a cult following in the US with viewers acting out skits, storming out in disgust, and throwing plastic cutlery during screenings. However unlike other cult films such as Rocky Horror, or the Big Lebowski, these fans are drawn to how bad they regard the film to be!

Come and see the birth of a cult with it's poor score, terrible acting and internet meme generating script.
